Summary: 35 miles bike back from Becket, MA to Salisbury, CT
06:00 – I woke up at 6AM by many alarms from fellow hikers. I was sleeping on the second level bank. During the night I once descended in the dark by the red metal stairs. It was hard to fall asleep after a long successful hiking day. All the memories and all the impending plans are piled up together to create a pleasant sense of happiness.
06:20 – I piled all my stuff on the metal stairs where I could slowly and deliberately pack my stuff without disturbing other sleeping hikers. First thing today, I need to hike 2 miles to cross Mass Pike and to get to my bike.
07:01 – without waiting for a pancakes breakfast, I started hiking back towards AT. I needed to take a full stop for morning procedures.
07:30 – I reached the AT. Now full speed to a double bridge that crosses East and West bound Mass Pike.
08:05 – I’ve reached the fence surrounding entrance to Mass Pike double bridge. After crossing the highway, the trail goes 360° just like an auto route.
08:32 – I got the bike out of the forest, strapped the backpack to the bike and I am ready to ride back to the car. It is +10°C. The sun is trying to break through.

AT goes over Mass Pike West. Every time driving under this bridge I was wondering what kind of people walk the AT. I now the question answered. | Berkshires is a most western county in MA |
09:22 – I completed 7 miles mostly down and now I am by our old workplace – Oak & Spruce Resort (1992-1993). There are 26 mi remains to the car. I am eating the first orange and shedding the layers of clothing.
10:11 – 11:06 – I’ve entered Great Barrington. I am applying sunscreen, making Duolingo, and sending a message to Lira. At this moment I tried to turn the trip into a relaxing bike ride. I would drink water, when I want to drink, eat, when I want to eat, I will not climb hills – just walk the bike up. This is perfect Monday holiday.
13:00 – cross into Connecticut on a small backroad – from Barnum St. in Sheffield, MA into Taconic Rd. in Salisbury, CT.
The track leads me through quite rural roads so that I only need to go 2.6 mi on a narrow route 41 without a shoulder for the bike.

Hurray! A bike is found in the woods by the trail. The saddle and the bike bag are hidden separately. | Oak N Spruce Resort is our first place of work where we spent over a year in 1992-93 |
By 13:33 – 13:52 ODO 156.2 – I arrived back to Salisbury AT parking on route 41 where the car is parked. I am starting to drive back home. I am sending a message to Lira – my ETA 16:30.
