06 2026-08 – all seven wild nature trips this year

Next morning is September 1. I woke up only at 07:30. This time I slept in my own bed and the sleep was very sound. I woke up only once – at 04:41. It was a rainy morning, but still it was very warm. All windows are open. It means, my timing for the trip was spot on. Because of the rain outside, I need to dry and repair my hiking equipment inside. It is OK. It is a pleasure to intermingle the work and take care of after-the-trip chores.

This time the trip was 14 mi of biking and 20 mi of hiking. Hiking took 22H with average speed of 0.9 mph. It was a tough AT section with gaining elevation from under 1000′ at the start to 4800 at the highest point of the trip.

In all seven trips this year I spent 24 days and 17 nights in the wild, ate all remaining hiker’s meals, used my hammock twelve times, used my bike five times, and drove over a thousand miles. What sections of AT remain uncovered by me in New England states? All of Connecticut completed, all of MA except a small 1 mi section in North Adams, all of Vermont, all of NH except Southern slopes on Mount Moosilauke, and all of Maine except a 15 mi section between Abol Bridge and Mt Katahdin.

Repairs:
On September 8, I would cover the hammock ripped mesh with transparent tape and then stitch the ripped section with green thread. We will see if this fix will work next hiking season. I have tested the repair next day on 9/9 in a small forest behind WSC. The repair holds well, but clear tape does not stick to the mesh.
