Many findings on this trip:
– rubber tip for the walking stick – I lost one on the previous trip.
– head gear on the side of the road while riding the bike
– wooden cup from a Norwegian company Eagle Products
The role of an umbrella on the hiking trip confirmed this time. It serves well on the trail in the woods, and at the camp, but not on the open exposed ridge line.
There is availability in the AMC huts even in the rain in the season on a Saturday night of a long weekend, but the price ($180) makes them an unreasonable option.
Additional topics to cover:
– The trail is just a spec on the map. The map doesn’t do justice to the actual complexity of the hike.
– Why do we record the happening on the trail and not our everyday life? What is the difference?
Confidence on the trail. This trip confirmed that you can’t be too comfortable at any time on the slope. Even with tons of experience. Experience helps, but every time false sense of comfort and confidence kicked in, it was quickly replaced by discomfort (cold and wet), doubt (can I even do this) and if not a panic.
Total hike ended up being 28.8 mi in a bit over 24H and total biking was 27.25 mi in 4H.
