    Remember to perform 3 steps:

-01- Change port in the registry:

    [HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINESYSTEMCurrentControlSetControlTerminal ServerWinStationsRDP-Tcp]

    “PortNumber”=dword: …

-02- Open a new port in Firewall and close (block) port 3389

    -03- Test the connection

If you need to access your Desktop from outside of your network, you would also need to setup port forwarding on your Router

Can you change port, if you do not have physical access to the console?

I mean, can you change the port using only RDP, registry and restart?

OK, if you do it on a remote machine with non-accessible console,

the sequence of steps is of an essence:

-1- connect to the remote system

-2- open new port in your firewall

    -3- change registry setting

-4- initiate remote system restart (Ctrl+Alt+End)

-5- connect on a new port

-6- close default 3389 port in your firewall
