Free at last – this July 2020 AT trip to Vermont was a picture perfect one. Weather was cooperating and warm, and just on June 26 Vermont opened all of its shelters (https://www.greenmountainclub.org/covid-19-response/). – “As of June 26, all trails and facilities on the Long Trail and Appalachian Trail in Vermont are open”. Finally! Even better, because of safety concerns, all the shelters are free, instead of usual $5 charge at some facilities.
Comb – if you have a long hair (like after flu-related Government induced isolation) always have a comb in your shirt pocket. You will need it after every swim or when your hair is wet with perspiration.
Water Scoop – cut a bottom part of a plastic bottle to use as a water scoop from shallow water puddles.
Laptop – do not take a work laptop with you if battery is not going to last. If must, always shutdown after each use. To extend battery life, do not leave laptop in a sleep mode. Shut it down completely.
